To open my mailbox like someone opening a surprise box and to feel the pleasure of discovery unleashed by an envelope decorated with stamps.
To be part of the world and also to discover it this way, with the help of those who share this vision.

POSTCARD N.115 - GERMANY

Postcard sent on the 21sth September; received on the 28th September 2023

Postcard image: Dandelions and the Reichstag, Berlim
_________________________________________________________________________________

“What if the cupola of the Reichstag was but a huge dandelion blowball?” seems to ask the photo on the Berlim Postcard I got on my letterbox. Thanks a lot Gween!

For certain, the original was blown to pieces during the bombings of the Second World War, so the idea of blowball does not seem to be very far out of context either.

Still I'd rather look at it as a reminder of days gone, which I would have thought we, as a species, would be clever enough not to re-enact... and yet, I'm constantly proven wrong....

I've mentioned Postcrossing quite a few times before on these pages, so I won't get into details about the postcard sharing platform which I invite anyone interested on the theme and who is still not familiar with it to visit, by clicking here!

There could not be a more fitting stamp for a Postcrossing postcard than one dedicated to the subject, which was precisely what Gwenn must have thought when she used the 0,95 stamp celebrating Postcrossing, issued by Deutsche Post on 06OCT2022.

The stamp was cancelled with a mechanical obliteration but the number of the "Briefzentrum" through which it was processed is not dark enough to be read over the matrix code of the stamp.
