COVER N. 651 - SRI LANKA

Another of Ravi's always interesting covers, Bohomȧ  sthoothi, friend.




- On 15JUN2023, Sri Lanka Post issued a mini-sheet containing 20 x 50 Rupee circular stamps, dedicated to fruits and vegetables of Sri Lanka.

From left to right, the three stamps of this issue stamps depict:

Manilkara hexandra - a tree existing in the wild, which can reach 12 m in height, and whose yellow  fruits are harvested for human consumption.

Artocarpus nobilis, the Ceylon Bread fruit, endemic to Sri Lanka. its  seeds and fruits being used for medicinal purposes.

Ziziphus mauritiana, or Indian jujube. an evergreen shrub, cultivated for its fruit, which can be consumed raw, in beverages or in preserves.

As usual, postmark from the central Post Office at Colombo.
