Joy! I am always very pleased to receive mail from the tiny French island possession in Newfoundland for not only it is a remote place and  somewhat of an oddity in geopolitical terms but also because the stamps issued by the postal administration of the archipelago are almost without exception very beautiful, a large percentage of them being in-taglio printed.

But St. Pierre is, as I said, a quite remote location, and I would not have the pleasure of receiving this beautiful cover hadn’t I been able to count on  the gracious and generous help of Roland, who went through the trouble of getting it stamped and dispatched during the last Salon D'automne, in Paris.

Un très grand Merci, cher ami.

The 2.10 stamp on the cover was issued on 10JAN2025 as the year's issue of the on going St. Pierre and Miquelon ships series.

The ship depicted is the Jan Maria, a fishing trawler which according to notes I found on the internet "was Dutch-built in 1963. She passed through many hands and was renamed often. Still sails today under a Cameroon flag".

The Postmark was applied at the post office of St. Pierre.
