To open my mailbox like someone opening a surprise box and to feel the pleasure of discovery unleashed by an envelope decorated with stamps.
To be part of the world and also to discover it this way, with the help of those who share this vision.

POSTCARD N.54 - Germany

Postcrossing postcard sent on the 2(?) January; received on the 10th January
Postcard image: The new Zollhof in Medienhafen, Port of Düsseldorf, also known as the Gehry Buildings, after the name of the Architect who designed them: Frank Owen Gehry
____________________________________________________________________

Frank Gehry is without a shadow of a doubt one of the greatest living architects and I was lucky to have seen his works in Prague (the Fred and Ginger building) and in Bilbao (the Guggenheim Bilbao), both awesome examples of the twisted geometry that has become his trademark.

Anja has sent me a beautiful postcard of another of Gehry's masterpieces, this time the buildings of the new Zoollhof, in the city of Düsseldorf. Thanks a lot Anja, for the very nice card.

Stamps, left to right:

0,15€ stamp issued on 18DEC2018, as part of the long standing definitive emission started in 2005 themed on wild flowers. it shows a milkmaid (Cardamine pratensis).

0,80€ stamp issued on 02APR20, as a single stamp emission  celebrating the birth centenary of Richard von Weizsäcker (1920-2015), a former President of the Bundesrepublik Deutschland from 1984 to 1994, its first president after the reunification, and a member of the CDU, Christian Democrat Union party. Alongside the photograph of Weizsäcker, the stamp contains the following quote from him: "Seiner eigenen Würde gibt ausdruck, wer die Würde anderer menschen respektiert."
